I am a teacher alive with enthusiasm. Students quickly become aware of my wholeheartedness, including an unconditional positive regard for each one of them. It is my intention to promote an environment of safety and unpretentiousness. I meet students where they are. I am friendly for an intended purpose. Acquiring math concepts is not limited to the elite few. I do not allow students to talk themselves down into a state of nonaccomplishment. Learning math is like walking up a stairway, those along the stairway with you have merely completed different portions of the journey. We have a limited time and must pace ourselves. Everyone in the learning community is important and has a role towards achieving a target, and I remain flexible to make sure this happens. Lesson plans must help every student.
As a caring teacher with a solid background in math content, I provide students with resources, scaffolding, and demonstrations that begin with familiar ideas. Then we actively collaboratetowards the presentation of their learning results: Why is a subject important? What is its use? What is the overall structure? I want each student to complete a unit strengthened with intuitive subject knowledge.
To end, I enjoy learning the latest educational research to continually improve my abilities, believe in using varied assessments, reflections, and projects to track the pulse of student learning. Some of my teachers have had an immeasurable positive impact on my life. It is my vision to do my best to do the same.
